Bear + Wolf = Beowolf? Or is it Beowulf?
Here we are, Book #2 and I for one can’t wait to see what happens next!
This won’t be much of a review since whatever I say can be a spoiler but I’ll try my best (which doesn’t say much now, does it?)
So Arianna is now Queen of the Wolf Shifters and she basically has to deal with the imminent fae war while dealing with her own treacherous heart. But she can’t and she is determined to not deal with the fae on her own. Enter Kade to the mix (Who is swoon worthy). Also enter confusion and chaos and love and friendship.
Let me start with saying that my wish from book 1, for some issues to be fixed, came true:
- I got to see more of the “side” characters, if you can call them that. Calista, Kade, Violet, Blaine etc. It made me happy to learn about them and see them interact
- Were Ari was unchallenged in the first book, here I could see that she did have resistance. And I don’t just mean brute strength.
But not all issues were fixed and some new arose while I found that the ones that did improve needed a bit more tweaking with:
- Though the side characters stepped up their game I would have liked to see just a tad more interactions out of them still
- A couple of characters got ‘stronger’ and challenged Ari which should have been great but it wasn’t. The reason for that is that in the first book they were nowhere to be seen and this change seems dramatic, extreme and out of nowhere, like a complete 180.
- Concentrated info was given out and irregular intervals which made the book feel “uneven & blocky” to me. You can’t have new info every other page, I know, but giving out info once or twice abnormal intervals makes the book “uneven & blocky". It wasn’t that much but it was enough to be noticeable.
- Repeating of information more than the natural brush up. This always gets on my nerves. There is the repeating of info to helps us remember details between books and there is repeating the whole first book into the second one.
Once again I liked the writing style and the flow was good as well.
Can’t wait for Book #3 to see what happens!
