If Emma Watson, Harry Dresden & Rambo had a child that would be Ryiah.
Wow that was something!
Like anything in life this left me with mixed feelings:
I loved Ryiah! She is waifu, spirit animal & who-I-want-to-be-when-I-grow-up all wrapped up in one. She could also be the female version of Harry Dresden (❤) with ease. Strong, clever and determined she was an amazing character with so much potential. Xaxaxa see what I did there? ;D (If you read the book you would know)
Side characters were interesting as well:
- Ella is #friendship goals. Equally strong, clever and determined as Ry. I wish we could have seen just a bit more of her.
- Alex the classic #brother/protector/playboy hybrid. Ry’s twin is a great guy. Level headed to Ry’s hot temper, well until someone tries to hurt his sister. Another character I would have liked to see a bit more as well
Then we have Darren. Darren, the love interest. Darren, the antagonist. Darren, the embodiment of a human roller coaster. Like most, if not all, I loved & hated him in a roller coaster motion. He was helping, he was a d*ck, he was helping again, he was a d*ck again. Holy Taco on a stick that drove me mad! And it also made me love it. Ugh ❤
Priscilla was a villain but I never really saw her to be honest. Mostly I saw Darren. Darren. Ugh
Though I loved this book, Ry and the rest, I was also annoyed by Ry quite a bit. That girl could drive people mad. Some actions – or lack thereof – made me go DUH! and facepalm myself. At the end trials she showed that she learned nothing. The only thing that saved her is the fact that she did indeed worked super, extra hard. I guess the nerves, action & stress got to her.
In total I loved this one, annoying stuff and all. I am extremely glad I found and read it!
Onward to Book #2! \(^_^)/
At this point I want to thank the author Rachel E. Carter, first for writing and sharing her work with the world and second for sending me a copy of the book. ❤❤ (^_^) ❤❤

Another thanks goes to my Goodreads friend Inge. She was the one that raved about this book/series thus bringing this gem to my very short-spanned attention. ❤ (^_^) ❤
